The time she was “that” Canadian

There are many Canadian stereotypes out there… we all love hockey, Tim Hortons is life, we are really nice people, we say “eh” in every sentence, and we have stronger beer and drink a lot.

We took a family vacation to Florida and the Bahamas in the winter quite a few years ago. We did the typical traveling around Florida and took our first starter cruise to the Bahamas from there.

My mom is not a drinker at all, my entire life I think I have seen her milk maybe one cooler an entire night. She is the type to sniff the bottle cap and fall over drunk, so I was surprised when we got on the cruise and she started drinking.

I was underage in the States (Canada they start us earlier on the liver damage), so we would order one virgin Pina Colada and one regular because they had all the booze sitting on the top of the drink and we could just dump some into the virgin drink. Maybe it was because it was our first cruise, maybe we weren’t ready for the ocean waves, or we got caught up in all the fun but we ended up drinking a lot, or at least feeling like we were.

The next morning we woke up in the Bahamas and we went on a jeep cruise around the island. We, along with many other people from all over the world, were following around a main tour guide in our own jeeps, making stops all over the place. We ended up on one of National Geo graphics most beautiful beaches that year and spent the afternoon there. My mom, the non-drinker, was hung over from the night before and it was made worse by the bumpy jeep ride. Picture this, she was laying on one of the worlds most beautiful beaches throwing up. An Australian couple , not realizing I was in ear shot, said “typical Canadian” before going to offer her some advil.

Funny story, eh?

She actually did that… on a ship

Have you ever been in a car accident ? Have you ever done something so stupid when drunk?  Have you ever gone on a cruise ship? Have you ever got in a car accident on a cruise ship?

We had to travel from one end of Greece to another on a ship. I assumed the ship was going to be “meh”, but when we arrived it was like the damn Titanic. This ship looked like a legit cruise… I was pinching myself because I didn’t remember spending the money for something THIS extravagant.

When we boarded this ship it was even more beautiful..

We had the entire ship to ourselves it seemed (or everyone else locked themselves in their rooms). It had chandeliers from the roof, a huge lobby with marble floors, and a bar area where we sat all night drinking and playing card games.

Our room was small, but beautiful. There were 4 of us staying in it, with 2 sets of bunk beds. We had a tiny little bathroom, but we were all happy. We unpacked our things and made our way down to the bar where everyone else already were. We started drinking, and drinking, and drinking….

I don’t even remember going back to our room that night,

but when I woke up in the morning 1 of our room mates was no where to be found. We started packing our bags to get off this ship, onto our next adventure, when we heard a loud knock on the door. When we opened it our missing roommate was there, nearly out of breath. She pushed past us into the room and shoved whatever was in her hands under her mattress on the bottom bunk. She paced a little bit, giving an odd awkward laugh, then grabbed what she put under her mattress and showed us.

She opened our room door and threw these keys down the hallway.

“I don’t remember what happened. I remember drinking and wanting to go to bed. I had no idea where our room was so I started walking around the ship until I found a door. Behind this door there were stairs into a large garage with many cars parked inside. I was so tired and drunk that I just wanted to get into one of the cars and sleep. I assumed the cars were locked so I broke off the antenna from one car and tried to pry it into the window. I don’t remember if that worked, but I ended up in a car. After a few minutes, or hours of sleeping I woke up, still drunk. I found that there were keys in the vehicle I was in so I decided to drive it (since I had no idea where I was). I started the car and backed it up… into another car. All of the sudden all these car alarms around me started going off so I ran out of the car. I tried to get back out the door I came in the night before but it wouldn’t open, so I pulled the fire alarm. The door finally opened and I booked it back to the main lobby and casually walked back to my room. I forgot I was still holding the keys”

So here’s us getting off this ship in the morning..
